    How Many Subwoofers are Enough? — A Systematic Study

    The primary citation for our metrics and canonical sub configurations. Welti's 2012 133rd Convention paper introduces MSV (Eq. 2), MOL with per-sub normalization (Eq. 3), and the combined MSVMOL figure of merit (Eq. 5), evaluated across seven named sub configurations (FLC, 4C, FBM, LRM, 4M, FBQ, LRQ) and seven seat configurations. Our Welti Table 2/3 regression test uses this paper's published means as the ground truth.

    Low-Frequency Optimization Using Multiple Subwoofers (SFM)

    The earlier SFM (Sound Field Management) work. Introduces per-sub gain/delay/polarity refinement — the physics behind the app's optional Phase-5 optimizer stage. Distinct from the 2012 paper (AES 8748): 2006 covers signal processing on installed systems, 2012 covers pre-construction geometric placement.
